What do you do? I created District Climb!
Where do YOU find your motivation? When the first Climber walks in the door, everyday! Nothing gives me motivation like it. It’s the best feeling I could ever describe for you!
What is your WHY? My WHY came from uncertainty. My WHY came from being put into unfortunate situations I did not cause, but had to go through anyway. My WHY is proving to myself that I CAN! My WHY is proving my ex-husband wrong! My WHY is the happiness I get when i am in the studio Climbing with you!
If you set goals/intentions, what are yours right now? Continue to grow District Climb. I would love to bring DC to other cities. I often get asked to and have my eyes set on a few locations!
How did you first get into fitness? I played NCAA D1 Softball for Texas-Arlington so I have always loved being active and into fitness. My true passion came to me a few years ago while going through divorce. It gave me the outlet to disappear in class. It was my time to focus on ME. I tell my Climbers when they walk into the studio to let go, whatever they need that day, the next 30 minutes is *all about them!*
What’s the best health/wellness advice you’ve ever received that has actually helped? I was in a SoulCycle class in LA. Pixie was the instructor (@pixopatomus) what she said came to me at a time I needed to hear it for my well being. She said something along the lines of, “things people say affect us … try to wait and respond rather than reacting.” I needed to hear those words at that time. I was in the middle of my divorce. My emotions were heightened. My ex knew how to push my buttons for me to lose it. Those words were golden for me. I still live by those words. Taking the time to respond to someone as opposed to making a quick reaction that can sometimes be incorrect or lead to overreacting or escalating a situation that did not need to be.
What’s your favorite workout to do when you’re not teaching? This one is easy … VersaClimber!! At District Climb! All of my favorite instructors are there!
What’s the last song you listened to on Spotify (or iTunes, Pandora, etc.)? I just pulled the last song I saved on Spotify for you. I used it Saturday as a recovery song in class; “Only Us” remix Paperwhite feat. Young Bombs
Best thing in your fridge right now? Strawberries. Though not in peak season they are always in my fridge.
Go-to pre or post-workout snack? Banana frozen or straight up!
Go-to morning beverage(s)? Coffee with skim milk.
Favorite splurge meal/dessert? Ice Cream (check out my insta!) 🙂
Where do you get your health/wellness information? Women’s health magazine. IHRSA.
If this wasn’t your job, what would be your job? When I was a kid I wanted to be the FIRST female professional baseball player. I used to cry to my parents I wanted it so much. Since I am now just past my peak years in baseball 😉 let’s say I’d be an attorney. I have been told I like to argue. I’m working on that! 🙂
Favorite way to unwind after a long day/week? Walk my sweet GSD, V!! The BEST!💙
