Why do you teach Pilates?
Pilates is the most balanced way of strengthening the body. I love teaching it because not only the results it provides but it is great to keep in shape even when rehabbing or working around an injury. It’s an intelligent and effective way of working out. It is great for creating long, lean and flexible muscles and each session is tailored to the clients particular body and needs.
How did you first get into fitness?
I was on the swim team in high school and college and to supplement the swim practice weights and strength training were required as well. In the off season I discovered Pilates and Cycling which I immediately got hooked on.
What’s the best health/wellness advice you’ve ever received that has actually helped?
You’ve got to switch your workouts up or at least the intensity to prevent plateau. This is why we offer various types of fitness classes at the studio, they are all effective and different. We encourage people to switch up their routine.
What’s your favorite workout to do when you’re not teaching?
If I’m at the studio: I love to do a Gyrotonic session. It’s like getting a massage while working out. My favorite way to move for sure.
If I’m out of town or not at studio: I love to walk, not run, walk. It’s a great way to be outdoors and connect with nature a bit.
