Athleisure has officially taken over the world. Ok, maybe that’s not quite the case, but it sure is a thriving industry and now everyday wardrobe choice for many. With the popularity of brands like Lululemon and Fabletics, living in your yoga pants as become the norm. But with that has come confusion on what gear is better for brunch and which is actually going to keep your jiggle bits held in during your next Beyond500 class. So, here’s Team StudioHop’s take on the gear to match the activity.
Let’s Talk Shoes:
We typically wear Nike Free Runs for their flexible sole that allows us to take on the Curve in a Beyond 500 class yet still keep our balance on the Pilates Chair. This type of shoe allows your foot to move naturally with whatever type of move you may need to do in an indoor class environment. Plus, they are cute and can transition right into your brunch date!
There are so many shoes and it’s hard to decide. Just take a minute during your next workout and evaluate what you feel you need. Is it more stability? More cushion for your knees? We recommend going to Six:02 for some great guidance.
Our current favorite lifestyle shoes however, well, how do we narrow these down? New Balance is at the top of our list with these beauties, and Adidas has made a comeback recently with these oldies but goodies!
Leggings, Yoga Pants and Everything in Between:
Now this is where our jiggle bits come into play. It’s hard enough making the Crow Pose look elegant and we don’t want to worry about the dreaded ‘see-through pants’ while attempting to get into our poses. The main tip to remember is to take a close look (literally) at the fabric of the pants. If it’s a polyester-spandex blend, you’ll be fine and you really do get what you pay for (within reason.)
Leggings we love for higher intensity workouts(spin, running): Outdoor Voices, Nike, Athleta
Leggings we love for lifestyle and low impact(brunch, barre): Koral, Bandier, Level 3 Active
Sports Bras..We all Deserve to be Supported:
Some are too tight. Some are too loose. Some are too strappy and our arms get tangled never to find the right hole to go through and then some are just right. The epic search for a variety of supportive, cute and easy to get into sports bra is never ending. If you work out multiple times a week, then you’ll need several in your wardrobe. So, which ones do we prefer?
Natalie loves her Athleta Full Focus Bra. It’s just the right amount of support needed for high or low intensity workouts. The white one is the preferred color because it’s cute, breathable, and perfect for low impact workouts like yoga, Pilates and barre…and it’s super flattering!
Ashley loves her Under Armour UA Eclipse bra from Six:02! It’s got adjustable straps to make the fit tighter or more loose depending on the workout. Plus it has a little extra padding to help the girls look good during workouts! (C’mon, you know this is a good thing.)
Other bras that are super cute under a racerback tank and more ideal for low-impact workouts or brunching with friends:
Lululemon: Free To Be Bra (Wild) | All Sport Bra 3 Strap
Fabletics: Malindi Bra | Samana Sports Bra
