Why do you teach boxing?
Sports and outdoor activities have always been an essential part of my life. When I was 18 years old in high school, I had an idea of the career I wanted to pursue but did not know the steps to make it a reality. At the time, a friend of mine had been working as a trainer at a boxing gym and filled me in on a potential job opening.  Immediately, I jumped on the opportunity, and you could say the rest is history. Now three years later, I can say without a doubt that boxing in itself is not only the most physically demanding, but also the most mentally demanding sport I have had the privilege to take part in and now teach. Boxing and Fitness as a whole are deep passions of mine, and I love helping people attain their image inside and out. My personal belief is to test your body’s full potential by embracing a motto of continuous improvement.

Whats the best health/ wellness advice you’ve receive that has actually helped?
Health and wellness is a choice. Therefore, we shouldn’t deem ourselves unworthy or make excuses, but instead should make daily goals and decisions to create a long-lasting change for our future selves.

Whats your favorite workout to do when you not teaching?
Anything physical or outdoors that doesn’t involve the daily routine. My favorite activity would have to be taking trips to Pekin, Illinois,  and mountain biking in some of the best trails I’ve had the opportunity to ride.

Whats the last song you listened to on Spotify?
Song right now : “Questions” – Chris Brown
Hype song : “Bout that”- Jeezy (feat. Lil Wayne)

Best thing in your fridge right now?
I always keep watermelon on deck, which is great for hydration. Watermelon also has several heart-healthy components, including lycopene, citruilline, and other vitamins and minerals.

Go-to beverage?
I drink a lot of water, but when I’m feeling rebellious, sweet tea, hands down.

Favorite splurge meal/ dessert?
The calorie dense Chicken Fettucine Alfredo. As for sweets, some sort of cookie or pan dulce is my go-to.

Where do you get your Health / Wellness information?
There are a lot of influences I’ve learned from. Personal experience has been a big part of what I know but there are a few names I could reference:
– Chris Jones (Pumpchasers)
– Steve Cook (SwoldierNation)
– Gary Vaynerchuck (Gary Vee)
– BodyBuilding.com

Favorite way to unwind after a long day/week?
Recently, ice baths followed by a hot bath have been relieving a lot of stress and inflammation. Also, I surround myself with my family/friends, appreciate life for what it is, and take a step back from the everyday fitness life.

Best part of your job?
For one, I believe it’s a blessing to be able to do something I’m passionate about AND, at the same time, go through the process of health and wellness with individuals that want to better themselves. Being able to directly participate in a client’s training and offering both physical and emotional support is the best feeling in the world. I believe surrounding yourself with like-minded individuals makes any process more enjoyable, whether it be working out, dieting, traveling etc. Ultimately, I’ve learned there is more to being physically fit than just the physical component.
