Valentine’s Day can be a trigger for those of us without an S.O., but it really doesn’t have to be that bad. In fact, we see it as an excuse to #treatyoself whether you’re in a relationship or not. We have to be honest. We’re tired of the overpriced prix fixe menus and overpaying for everything because it’s a holiday. We’d rather do this holiday a little nontraditionally and make it healthier while we’re at it (but don’t expect us to give up chocolate or wine. Those are here to stay). Whether you’re dating, Bumbling, engaged, married or far from it, these “date” ideas are the perfect way to celebrate you and your relationships and they’re great for taking your bestie or your bae, so we hope we’ll inspire you to celebrate this Valentine’s Day in a healthier, more balanced way.

Grab your mats & head to a deep stretch yoga class. Then treat yourselves to a glass of wine (or two) afterwards. You’ll detox and then you’ll retox, but you’ll have lots of great endorphins flowing and be happy you did both.

Head to your favorite market and shop the season’s best to make a home cooked meal in the comfort of your home. There’s nothing better than a home cooked meal. Extra points for following a recipe in an actual cookbook (wait, what’s a BOOK?) and finding fresh produce that is in season and tasty. Don’t forget the pajamas and wine. And don’t forget to light some candles and turn on the “Relax & Unwind” playlist on Spotify. #youfancyhuh

Ditch the fancy overpriced dinner reservations and head to the spa. You’ll probably spend around the same amount, but you’ll be doing something good for your mind, body & soul and you definitely won’t regret it. Bonus points for a couples massage—whether you go with you S.O. or your bestie.

Go for a jog—to your favorite coffee shop or juice bar. Lace those running shoes up and get those endorphins flowing. Your fancy matcha latte will serve as a nice visual for the finish line. We also find that a partner jog is the perfect time to really catch up and reconnect.

Find a movie on Netflix and (chill) celebrate with cozy clothes, a nice crudité and cheese board and a bottle of your favorite champagne. Fluffy pups and blankets are bonus additions here. (can we just do this every night please?)

Happy Valentine’s Day to you. Heck, get out there and take your self on a date. You deserve it and you are loved!
