Summer

  1. EAT BREAKFAST

It’s the most important meal of the day. SERIOUSLY. Listen to us on this one! Especially during the hot summer months, having a good breakfast will give you fuel for your whole day. It prevents you from overeating mid-morning or at lunch. Our go-to healthy breakfast options are greek yogurt with fresh fruit, avocado toast or egg white omelet with fresh veggies. (Tip: we pre-make our eggs with fresh peppers and lean turkey sausage in a scramble format on Sundays. Then you can portion it out to have for the whole week.)

      2. 0 TO 100 (SPF) REAL QUICK

Sunscreen, suncreen, suncreen. Anytime you’re outside, protect your skin with some variation of SPF. With repeated sun exposure, that healthy glow will turn to healthy wrinkles down the road. If you’re picking out a suncreen there are a few things to keep in mind to protect yourself from the sun. Make sure it’s water resistant, has an SPF of 15 or above and contains all of THESE ingredients.

     3. KEEP YOUR ROUTINE

With summer comes vacations, days off and random pool days. But don’t let these fun things get in the way of all the hard work you’ve put into creating your consistent workout routine. Many hotels and resorts offer great gyms or free group workout classes for you to take advantage of while on vacay. If you’re headed out to the pool or lake, try and work in 30 minutes of treading water. You’ll burn about 300 calories in that time frame! (Just enough to not feel guilty about margarita No. 2)

 4. ENJOY IN-SEASON PRODUCE

We’re pretty lucky to be able to enjoy just about all of these products year round but in the summer months, these items are at the peak of quality. Oh, and they are probably the best priced produce items. Go enjoy yourself some fresh #noms.

Summer Produce:

-Blueberries

-Blackberries

-Carrots

-Cantaloupe

 5. HYDRATION

C’mon. Have you been outside in a Texas summer? Keeping water around (hopefully in your nifty StudioHop water bottle) will keep you hydrated during these dog days of summer. Also, we often tend to overeat thinking we are hungry when in reality it’s thirst that we need to quench. Take advantage of the ‘filling’ effect water can have!
