What do you do? I do lots of health-related things as a fitness entrepreneur. 1) My main gig is a clinical sports and fitness nutrition specialist and certified personal trainer. I design custom spreadsheets that cater to client’s fitness goals or for a healthy lifestyle. I work closely with a physician and great staff to help those build up to their full potential. 2) Zyn22 – “The22” HIIT Instructor; A 30 minute HIIT group class that works with intervals and includes several different modalities such as the Ski Erg, water bags. battle ropes, TRX & more! Come ready to torch your fat. 3) I am the program designer for a group class called Lift at Kaia Fit, an all-women gym in North Dallas. This is for the beginner/intermediate/advanced woman that wants to hit the weights, and create a confidence to do so on her own. Did I mention that pink bumper plates are involved? 🙂 Come ready to Lift and leave uplifted! Solid community.

Where do YOU find your motivation? What is your WHY? I have always been passionate about evolving into the best version of ‘Me’. Music fuels me. The fact that we have arms, legs, sight, sense of smell, taste, etc.. All of these things are a gift! I feel privileged to be able to MOVE, as should everyone. I want to take care of my body because it’s where I live. My family is my Why – they mean so much to me, and motivate me to continue to grow and stay healthy.

With it being a new year, what is one piece of advice you’d give to everyone to help them stick to their goals? Make small, baby weekly goals that ultimately lead up to your BIG goal. Track the baby goal weekly. As soon as you are consistent with your “baby goal”, create another one or add to it. Try not to overwhelm yourself with an entire month of an abrupt schedule change. This is unrealistic. Avoid abrupt changes & set yourself up for success with a smooth transition– good things take time & adjustments!

What are YOUR 2019 intentions? Be present. Expand my knowledge and continue to be an open-minded student. Constantly learning, constantly growing. Get back on stage Summer/Fall 2019. Continue seeking philanthropy + fitness opportunities.

How did you first get into fitness? Team sports in middle school & high school (volleyball, basketball, track). An ACL injury transitioned into studying physical therapy & personal training. I created a personal training business and started bikini bodybuilding. I was very passionate initially starting the bikini bodybuilding, and have been so ever since! This transitioned into being passionate about helping individuals reach their goals, too.

What’s the best health/wellness advice you’ve ever received that has actually helped? Rest and recovery is key. If you don’t rest, you could stall/halt your progress. When I started focusing on rest days in coordination with training days, my body responded “thank you!!” 🙂

What’s your favorite workout to do when you’re not teaching? I LOVE training legs & glutes. If weather permits, I also love doing cardio outside.

What’s the last song you listened to on Spotify (or iTunes, Pandora, etc.)? Wow. By Post Malone

Best thing in your fridge right now? Definitely the creamy almond butter from Trader Joes. It won’t be there much longer!

Go-to pre or post-workout snack? Pre: Protein Hot Chocolate with 2 Rice Cakes + Almond Butter & Agave Nectar on the side. Post: Ground chicken + white rice + green veggies and Trader Joe’s Coconut Organic Aminos. Think stir fry.

Go-to morning beverage(s)? Coffee 🙂  Matcha Green tea latte with cashew milk.

Favorite splurge meal/dessert? I’m always down for some pizza or a bison burger with sweet potato fries. Dessert would have to be some kind of vanilla + caramel ribbon ice cream!! Ahh.

Where do you get your health/wellness information? TWU Kinesiology degree. ACSM guidelines. Personal experience. The practice that I work with, Performance Sports Medicine. Constantly absorbing! Currently studying for the Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist exam.

If this wasn’t your job, what would be your job? I would probably work in a physician’s office of some sort or be a personal assistant.

Favorite way to unwind after a long day/week? Awesome meal at home + hot epsom salt bath + stretch + movie in favorite jammies 🙂
