We’re back with another instructor profile, and this time we’re in Austin.  We had the pleasure of speaking to Morgan Miller, the boxing badass at Align in Austin, TX.  This studio is amazing.  Aside from having awesome trainers, the studio is beautifully designed and equipped.  They offer boxing, barre and Pilates – I mean, come on – thats a perfect trifecta! Morgan was such a joy to talk to, and we’re assuming all of her clients feel the same way.   She has been an athlete for as long as she can remember so she naturally fell into the path of instructing.  She brings a variety of different skillsets to her classes and genuinely loves working with her clients–and her mission is a very important one.  Scroll down to get to know her a little better and visit her soon!

What made you want to become a fitness instructor?
I came from a small town and when I went to college I learned that most of the girls I knew had been assulted/abused in some way or another.  This impacted me and made me want to learn self defense and in turn empower women along the way.

What is your favorite part about being an instructor?
I love the schedule and my lifestyle as an instructor.  I love the network of friends I’ve made.  But the biggest why is because I get to help change the mindset of women and boost their confidence.  Usually people come in to lose weight, but they end up transforming their whole life instead.

What’s the most important piece of fitness knowledge you’ve received that you want your clients to know?
Do one extra.  Whether thats one extra rep or one extra sprint or one extra something else.  It really adds up over time.

What’s your favorite workout to do when you’re not instructing?
I love to run because its my time and I get to spend time with God.  I also get to listen to good music, too.

What’s the real key to changing your body and becoming stronger?
Routine.  It’s showing up and making it a consistent thing.  Its so easy to do, but its also so easy not to do.  Finding the consistency is key.  I also think a lot of women don’t fuel properly – its not all about cardio.

What’s in your fridge right now?
Lots of water.  Staying hydrated is key, especially when training really hard.  I eat before I’m hungry and stop before I’m full.  I always aim to get a variety of colors on my plate, usually stock up on veggies.  If I can grow it, I eat it.

Go to healthy snack?
Trail mix/nuts.

Go to beverage?
Water/coffee.

Favorite splurge meal/dessert?
I almost was a pastry chef, so I love dessert.  I love a good cupcake.

Best way to unwind after a long day/week?
I read a lot.  I think being an instructor is so tiring sometimes that being able to unwind in a quiet space with a good book and my dog is the best.

What’s the most rewarding memory from your job so far?
Connecting with people!
